The 80/20 rule is a concept widely used in many areas of life including goal setting, leadership, time management and productivity. It is also a concept that we can apply to our health goals, and even more specifically, Time Restricted Fasting (TRF).
But what is this 80/20 rule and how does it work?
Also known as the Pareto Principle - named after the Italian man who founded the concept in 1848, Vilfredo Federico Damaso Pareto. He observed that 80% of Italy’s wealth came from 20% of the population. And that is how the 80/20 concept was born!
Essentially, the 80/20 rule states that 80% of results come from 20% of the effort or actions that you put in.
For example: 20% of the best salespeople generate 80% of the revenue for a company.
So how does the rule apply to our TRF challenge?
Even though every aspect of the wellness challenge (not just TRF) is going to be highly beneficial for your goals and overall health, we believe that TRF is the most important aspect of the challenge.
Think of TRF as the 20%. The effort that you put in with the TRF challenge will generate 80% of your overall results.
And note that the rule doesn’t necessarily mean 80/20 exactly, in all cases.
Ultimately it just means that most of the results will come from one small, yet highly important, set of actions.
